That’s right. The Moline Public Library provides voter registration during most hours of operation. Since our voter registrars are sometimes busy with other library duties it isn’t a bad idea to call ahead at 524-2450 to inquire whether a registrar will be available.
What Do You Need to Register?
You may register to vote at the Moline Public Library under the following guidelines:
- You must live in Rock Island County
- You must be able to show 2 (two) forms of identification, 1 (one) indicating your current address
- You must be a resident at your current address at least 28 days before any election
Not sure if you’re registered? You can find out by performing a Registration Lookup through the Illinois State Board of Elections web site.
When You Can Register?
Voter registration closes 28 days before an election and opens 3 days after an election.
And now, new residents/citizens/legal adults and the friends and family members of said individuals, you know where to go (or where to send them) if you (they) would like to register to vote in the next round of elections!
On a related note, the library is also a frequent location for early voting, so once you’re registered be on the lookout for an opportunity to beat the lines on election day by coming to the library to vote early!
Friends of Libraries groups have their very own national week of celebration!
United for Libraries will coordinate the 13th annual National Friends of Libraries Week Oct. 21-27, 2018.
We just wanted to take a moment to thank the Friends of the Moline Public Library. Their volunteer-run book store and fundraisers provide invaluable supplemental funding for the library and its programs. Their time and effort have translated to hundreds of thousands of dollars that the library was able to use to give back to the community.
If you want to support the Friends and the Moline Public Library stop by during National Friends of Libraries Week and check out their Silent Auction and Raffle that’s happening in the lobby.
And while your at it you might as well vote while your here!
“Nobody will ever deprive the American people of the right to vote except the American people themselves and the only way they could do this is by not voting.” Franklin D. Roosevelt
Early voting started at the Moline Public Library today, October 24, and goes through November 3. Voting takes place from 11am to 7pm, Monday through Friday, in the meeting rooms right across from the main entrance. Feel like you need to prepare yourself ahead of time? No problem. Click here to go to site for the Election Division of the Rock Island County Clerk’s Office where you can find a list of candidates and a sample of the ballot you will be filling out.
Once you’re ready, come to the library and vote to fulfill your obligation as a free citizen of the United States of America and to have your voice heard. And do it early to avoid long lines on November 8. Even when fulfilling one’s civic duty, long lines are just the worst.
